The Intellectual Sinner
Their coming is seasonal
And well expected
As a lover, they know what we want
And make use of sugarcoated words
In coaxing us into accepting their beautiful lies
Each tenure comes with brand new tactics
Time and time again
We have been screwed over
Tormented, toyed with, and heartbroken
But we never learn
When would we learn?
They all seem alike, yet different in their own perspective
Winning us over is their only goal
Some claim to be saints
And really are
Others are like dirt
Buried deep in the ground
Bearing nothing but wanting to lead us
Could it be that we can go deeper than the ground?
Could it be that we are shallower than we think?
Could it be that we have never and frightfully might never give those that can liberate us the chance?
Overly enticed by the intellectual sinner
We pray thee
Open our eyes to see
And set us free
